The new Sauber driver Nico Hulkenberg has said that there are no deficiencies within the team, despite the team deciding to field an inexperienced line-up. Nico Hulkenberg has recently joined from Force India, while he will be having the rookie Esteban Gutierrez as his teammate for the upcoming 2013 F1 season. Many have suggested that the team will struggle to get results as a result of this inexperienced line-up, but Hulkenberg has suggested that the line-up is not as inexperienced as many think it might be. He has also said that there are no negative vibes within the team before the start of the season.
He has said that even though he is new to the team, he already has that experience of racing in Formula One. Gutierrez, on the other hand, might be new to the sport in terms of racing, but he has already been testing with Sauber for a long time. As a result, he is not new to the team and he will be able to provide a lot of inputs. Hulkenberg believes that this combination will see Sauber hitting the ground running at the start of the testing season. Hulkenberg has also confirmed that he will not be requesting any changes to the car before testing.
“I don’t see any deficit to be honest. Indeed I am new in the team, but not new in F1, and Esteban has gained experience as a test driver with Sauber so he is not new to them. I would say there is no deficit, but rather the chance to make good acquaintances. During this time of the year it is always to make me comfortable in the car. Making a good seat in which I feel comfortable is very important,” said the 25-year-old German driver to the official F1 site.
